TGI Fridays Portsea Nippers 2014 – 2015

TGI Fridays Portsea Nippers is a fun educational program run by the Portsea surf life saving club for it’s members aged between seven and fourteen. The aim of the program is to educate children on safety on the beach and in the surf while providing an environment of healthy activity and the opportunity for developing new friendships.

Registration for TGI Fridays Portsea Nippers is all done on line.

Some general information about the program is outlined below, however actual dates and many more details will be available on the website in August;

Key Dates:

  • Applications open for previous participants and siblings     10:00am   1/09/2014
  • Applications open for first time participants                    10:00am  15/09/2014
  • Gear pickup Tuesday 25/11/2014, 6:30pm to 9:00pm from 156 Cochrane's Road, Moorabbin.
  • Nipper Sessions:
    • Monday 29/12/2014 - Opening Day, Accreditation Swim, Nippers Program
    • Wednesday 31/12/2014 - Nippers Program
    • Friday 2nd January
    • Sunday 4th January
    • Monday 5th January
    • Wednesday 7th January
    • Friday 9th January
    • Saturday 10th January - Competition Day
    • Saturday 17th January - Swim Classic
    • Nippers Parents Cocktail Party Friday - 02/01/2014
    • Nippers Disco Sunday - 04/01/2014

Age for nippers:

  • children must be 7yo and under 14yo at the 1/10/14

Days for program

  • Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9.15am to 11.30am
  • Actual start date to be confirmed, however will be post Boxing Day and run for two to three weeks

Location of sessions

  • Portsea Back Beach and Blairgowrie Front Beach
  • There will be a gear pick up date, which will be Melbourne based


  • to be part of the Nipper program all children must be part of a Family Membership
  • Family membership will also be available on line

Parental involvement

  • Information sessions will be conducted prior to Christmas
  • The successful running of the program relies on parental involvement

2015 Portsea Swim Claissic

The Portsea Swim Classic will be held again on Saturday the 17th of January 2015. Stay tuned for further details.

The Portsea Swim Classic is limited to 1,800 competitors in order to ensure a hassle free event & competitor safety. It is strongly advised that competitors enter online early so as to avoid disappointment at missing out on Australia's premier open water swim in the pristine waters of Point Nepean National Park, Portsea. Subject to numbers & availability there may be extremely limited on day entries from 8:00 am.
