Entries for this year’s Melbourne Marathon on Sunday October 14 will open on Monday May 7 at 9:00am. Please enter online via our race website. If the full Marathon (42.2km) is not for you, then there’s also the Flight Centre Half Marathon, The Coffee Club 10km, plus an ASICS 5.7km run and ASICS 3km walk event. To celebrate the Melbourne Marathon 35th Anniversary, those who register for the 42.2km Marathon will receive a 35th Anniversary Marathon Running Singlet. More details can be found on the website!
Back inside the MCG
All events this year will finish inside the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This means the marathon course will revert to the 2010 version with a three quarter lap of the MCG a great way to finish.
35th anniversary celebrations
This year marks another milestone in our great race and to mark the occasion a special book, The Wall: History of the Melbourne Marathon is being produced which will capture the great moments over the race’s 35 years. Details on how you can pre-order the book are on our website.
The Marathon Course
Marathoners this year will be pleased to know that we have increased the road width. Therefore the use of the centre of St Kilda Road from Toorak Road to Southbank Boulevard will be used exclusively for marathon runners. There will also be added runner lanes in St Kilda Road where the Half Marathon and Marathon merge. We have separate running lanes with exclusive lanes for marathon only. We have also changed the Half Marathon course so that the last 3 km of the course is a Marathon only course. Runners will still merge as they enter the MCG.
The Half Marathon Course
The Half Marathon course will undergo a minor modification with entrants turning right at Federation Square and going over William Barak Bridge as per the 2006 Commonwealth Games course. This modification will also ensure three-hour marathoners will not be impeded by slow half entrants along Flinders Street.
