Bananas are NUTRITIOUS
Whether you’re rocketing to recovery, or filling up the tank before a big race, there is nothing in the whole universe that has got more of what you need than the incredible, amazing, scrumptious banana! They’re full of goodness, easy to carry, taste amazing and make you feel so so good! And they’re yellow! How awesome is that? Seriously however, well perhaps not too seriously, bananas are full of nutritious vitamins and minerals that the body needs to perform at the highest level. And when it comes to post race recovery, nothing replenishes lost goodness like the goodness of a banana and Dole bananas are the banana-riest bananas on the planet.

Can't get public transport to the event? Why not try carpooling?
The Melbourne Marathon has partnered with CoCoRide.com.au to provide a ridesharing (a.k.a. carpooling) service for runners. If you're doing the Marathon, Half Marathon or the 10k and can't get public transport to the start line, you can share a ride by jumping on to the CocoRide website and registering as either a driver or a passenger. It'll be a great way to save money on parking and petrol, meet fellow runners, share training ideas and reduce your carbon footprint.
Slow Course Information
All Marathon competitors who cannot run at a sub 5hr Marathon pace should make themselves familier with the alternate route for slow marathoners and obey instructions from marshals on the day.
To learn more about the slow marathon course and to view the map of the course, please click here.
Did you know?
Runners in the marathon will cross timing mats at 10km, 20km, 30km and 40km, so they will be able to gauge how consistent they were in covering the course. Entrants in the Flight Centre Half Marathon will receive a split time for 10km.
MEDIBANK HEALTHY TIP
